Computer Applications Technology (CAT) Extra Lessons - Teaching Practical Skills to Solve Every Day Problems

Computer Applications Technology (CAT) equips high school students with end-to-end digital literacy, moving them beyond basic social media use toward practical computational problem-solving.
CAT teaches students how to use software applications and digital tools effectively to solve real-world problems. Unlike IT or Software Engineering (which focus on coding and programming), CAT emphasizes practical end-user skills across software, hardware, and digital communication.
In office productivity applications, students master advanced word processing (MS Word), data manipulation and formulas (MS Excel), database management (MS Access), and dynamic presentation design (PowerPoint).
In information management, they learn efficient web searching, evaluating online source credibility, digital file management, and data analysis for practical reporting (Pat Projects).
In systems and digital citizenship, students gain a solid foundation in computer hardware fundamentals, network basics, software setup, cybersecurity awareness, and ethical internet usage.
